2GASCB Unboxed 005 - Board Game Etiquette

Submitted by unboxed on

This time on 2GASCB, the guys talk about Board Game etiquette - what to do and not to do around the table!

Sorry about last week folks! Life got in the way (in the form of family illness). I took out the local events section that we recorded - so as not to bore you with events already past - but some of the board game news is still relevant.

Agricola Expansions

Ah... agricola. Another one of my favorites. For anyone following me up to this point, it's no shocker that I love Agricola. It also shouldn't surprise anyone that I basically have every possible expansion for it. Agricola is a relatively complex game that can be made more and more complex depending on what you want to add or subtract to the game. Generally the complexity comes from the Occupation and Improvement decks, so naturally that is what most expansions focus on! However, Agricola has a number of interesting, and even bizzaire expansions. Let's dive in!

The Walking Dead: The Board game

So, I found myself a month or so ago, looking at a shelf of games in my local friendly gaming store, when I came across "The Walking Dead: The Board Game." This game came to my surprise (though not exactly shocking) on account of the fact that I was planning on writing up a survival horror game with a similar play style - resource management, unrewarding combat, etc... but the thing that sealed the deal for me was the price! However, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's apply some structure.

Dominion Expansions

Dominion came out of the gaming wood work a while back now and blew away the card game genre of board gaming. It's no wonder that after it's release the market would be soon bloated with more deck building games, living card games, and crazy amounts of expansions for each one.

Arkham Horror Expansions

I'd like to take a little time to talk about the structure behind Arkham Horror expansions. I know we haven't done Arkham Horror yet... but oh well, I'mma do this anyway!

The FFG run of Arkham Horror has been around for a few years now. Now, I know there was one published back in the 80s by Chaosium, but I don't want to get into that at the moment. For now when I'm talking about Arkham Horror I'm talking about the 2005 FFG version.

For anyone keeping score, I have not done the 1GASMCB show that I had been promising I would put out. Unfortunately between, Traitor, Hal-Con preparation, Marathon preparation, and life, I have not been able to find the time to put things together; I've filmed the first few episodes, but never had a chance to edit/post them.
